Dr Shark Bird

Shark Bird

MD, CMD, CWSP

Dr. Bird is the Chief Medical Officer at Vohra Wound Physicians. Dr. Bird has been with the company for over 15 years and oversees the clinical staff, clinician training, and wound fellowship program. He has extensive experience as a physician, having completed his family practice residency through West Virginia University School of Medicine and Medical School at Marshall University School of Medicine.

After completion of medical school, Dr. Bird ran a full spectrum family practice from delivering babies to caring for the geriatric population.

In 2001, Dr. Bird began to devote his time entirely to geriatric care in the post-acute setting with a focus on wound care. He is a Certified Wound Specialist Physician (CWSP) from the American Board of Wound Management, and a Certified Medical Director (CMD) from the American Medical Director Association.

He is recognized as a leader in wound care in the post-acute setting and shares his knowledge through lectures at major conferences throughout the country. He has numerous publications in the American Journal of Sports Medicine, and Best Care Practices for FMDA.

He currently serves on the board for the Florida Medical Directors Association (FMDA) and is a delegate for the state to the American Medical Director Association (AMDA). His teaching responsibilities include oversight of the Vohra Wound Care Fellowship and clinical preceptorship for Nova Southeastern University Medical School. 

Dr Janet S Mackenzie

Janet S. Mackenzie

MD

Dr Janet S. Mackenzie is a plastic surgeon with over 25 years of experience in the management and care of problem wounds. She obtained her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Pittsburgh before going to the University of Pennsylvania for her medical degree. She trained in general surgery at Dartmouth and did her plastic surgery training at McGill University. She is certified by both the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Wound Management.

Dr Mackenzie has a special interest in wound management in the setting of long-term care, providing on-site wound care to residents of skilled nursing facilities. She is involved with the training of established physicians new to wound care, teaching clinical best practices. She also volunteers in international wound care, helping medical staff in remote locations learn how to deliver wound care using resources available locally.

When not involved with wound care, Dr Mackenzie enjoys running canine agility with her dog Otis and managing her Etsy store. 

Dr Kathryn Hoskins

Kathryn Hoskins

MD

Dr Hoskins highly values helping others and preventing problems. These interests have lead her to spend the last decade working in the wound care setting for Vohra Wound Physicians where she has the opportunity to help heal stubborn wounds and prevent new problems for some of the most vulnerable individuals in our population.

Prior to working for Vohra she studied Brain and Cognitive Sciences, Music, and Internal Medicine as part of the University of Rochester’s Early Medical Scholar Program, graduating with magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa honors. While working with Vohra she has held and (and still holds) a number of leadership roles within the company within the realms of; physician training, electronic health record testing and development, chairing physician peer-review sessions, and presenting at national conferences.

She is mother to three elementary age children and wife of a geneticist and philosopher. For fun she enjoys playing/coaching soccer, running, gardening, the contemplative arts, board games and making escape rooms. 

Dr Adam Del Conte

Adam Del Conte

Dr. Del Conte is a Board-Certified Family Physician, having completed his residency at McGaw of Northwestern’s Family and Community Medicine program in Chicago, IL. He greatly enjoys the intersection between primary care and wound care, particularly in teaming with and educating his patients on the effects of lifestyle and their comorbidities on the healing and progress of their wounds.

He has been working with Vohra wound Physicians for just over a year and has been happy to participate in education programs and panels reviewing best practices and optimization.

Prior to his career in medicine, Dr. Del Conte was an actor and stage technician in the theatre, and a yoga instructor in local community centers and rehab facilities. He is blessed with a lovely wife, Erin; a bulldog, Rollo; and three cats, Mufasu, Llama, and Zizi. 

Dr Rank Dawson

Rank Dawson Jr.

MD

Rank O. Dawson, Jr., M.D., F.A.C.S., received his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati and completed his internship in General Surgery at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, AR. Further education included a General Surgery residency and a Chief Resident year at the Allentown Affiliated Hospitals in Allentown, PA.

He completed a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Residency including a chief resident year in the Kettering Medical Center/Wright State University program in Dayton, OH, as well as a Hand and Microsurgery Fellowship at the Christine M. Kleinert Institute in Louisville, KY.

Dr. Dawson is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, Inc. He is also an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. 

Dr Hiral Naik Gallimore

Dr. Hiral Gallimore Graduating from the Medical University of Lublin, Poland in 2009 and trained at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and at Virginia Commonwealth University in General and Burn Surgery. She found her niche in providing wound care to residents in long term care facilities, and so she joined Vohra in 2014.

Dr. Gallimore has spent her time with Vohra Wound Physicians not just taking care of her patients but also in many leadership roles. She has been the Director for the Tenured Fellowship Program for over a year. She is one of the Moderators for the weekly peer review called “Shared Learning.” She also has acted as a trainer for new Virginia doctors as well as leading virtual debridement modules for all new hires.

Recently, Dr. Gallimore has discovered a penchant for telemedicine and has spent long hours this past year trying to optimize providing wound care through a computer screen. She is incredibly enthused to keep bring these services directly into peoples’ homes.

In her free time Dr. Gallimore enjoys quiet country living with her husband, two dogs and chickens. She is currently working on establishing an operating Llama farm. She is passionate about food and wine and loves hosting friends and family whenever it is safe to do so. She also loves more artistic pursuits and paints and writes in her spare moments. She was recently published in Cosmopolitan Magazine. 

Dr Stephanie Newsom

Stephanie B. Newsom

MD

Dr. Newsom is a Certified Wound Specialist with a background in general surgery. She has eleven years of wound care experience working with Vohra Wound Physicians in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex in Texas. She graduated with 2 Bachelor’s degrees in Genetics and Biochemistry from Texas A&M University in 2000 and graduated from University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in 2006.

During her tenure with Vohra she has held positions in leadership, mentoring, and training. She is currently involved in Shared Learning Sessions as a Chairperson, an educator for the Tenured Fellowship Program, developer of educational content for testing and training material, and is a beta tester for the company developed EMR program. She is also the President of Vohra Wound Physicians of Texas, PLLC.

In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family, making cookbooks, baking, and decorating cakes. 

Dr Keith Bucklen

Certified by the American Board of Surgery and by the American Board of Wound Management, Dr. Bucklen has practiced with Vohra Wound Physicians for over eight years, initially in the Charlotte, NC area and currently in southern Coastal NC.

His background as a General Surgeon included academic faculty and clinical practice appointments. In addition to his medical credentials, Dr. Bucklen is seminary trained. Sponsored by the church, he served as a volunteer Associate Professor of Surgery at a government hospital in West Africa for five years.

In his Vohra practice he has held positions of clinical leadership and provided educational contributions, previously as a Physician Lead and Moderator of Weekly Educational Sessions, currently as Chair of Shared Learning Sessions and Fellowship Module Presenter.

Dr. Bucklen has been married for 47 years to “Jan” and is the father of six and grandfather of 17 (including two foster “grandchildren”). His avocations include writing, music, sailing, surfing, and more. 

Dr Glen Rowe

Dr. Rowe is certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgeons and by the American Board of Wound Management.

He has been working for Vohra Wound Physicians for five years in the Charlotte, North Carolina area. His background as an orthopedic surgeon gave him a diverse experience in covering a wide spectrum of musculoskeletal diseases and injuries.

He practiced 22 years in the United States and 4 years at Christian missionary hospitals in Kenya and the Dominican Republic.

Dr. Rowe has been married for 35 years, has five children and six grandchildren. He enjoys hiking, running, reading and family time. 

Dr Ron Hekier

Ron Hekier

MD

Dr. Ron Hekier is a board-certified general surgeon who has been with Vohra Wound Physicians since 2017. He graduated from the Tufts University School of Medicine with induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society and was a co-winner of the Martin J. Loeb award for the outstanding student in Surgery.

He completed his five-year general surgery residency at the rigorous Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery at the Baylor School of Medicine in Houston, TX where he met his wife, also a general surgery resident who is now a general surgeon with a specialization in Trauma and Critical Care.

He lives in Tyler, Texas with his wife and two daughters and enjoys weightlifting, collecting and studying 15th -17th century maps of the Holy Land, and baking sourdough bread. 

Dr Robert Dodson

Robert W. Dodson

Dr. Robert W. Dodson is a colon and rectal surgeon in Urbana, IL. He received his medical degree from Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and has been in practice for more than 20 years.

Dr. Dodson is certified by the American Board of Surgery and by the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery with licenses in the states of Missouri, Oklahoma, California, and Illinois.

He previously served as a surgeon at Carle Foundation Hospital and Mercy Hospital Joplin, Clinical Assistant Professor at University of Illinois College of Medicine Urbana-Champaign, and in the United States Air Force as Staff Surgeon and Lieutenant Colonel.
